POSTPONED

We have just received late notification from Network Rail that an engineering block is being imposed which will prohibit access to the British Gypsum terminal at Mountfield. As a consequence we have to postpone the Diamond Twenties on 23 September.  It Is not known when the tour will be run yet, but as soon as a date is set information will be posted here.

Passengers booked on this rail tour have been sent an email or letter and as soon as further information is know they will be contacted again.

A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO ENJOY A CLASSIC DAY OUT FEATURING BOTH CLASS 20S AND CLASS 73S ON A RAILTOUR TO KENT AND EAST SUSSEX.

Pathfinder Tours are pleased to present this very traditional railtour excursion, covering routes that have not seen regular locomotive hauled trains for five decades or more, visiting locations that are normally the preserve of freight trains, and all within the area of the former Southern Region. Not forgetting that the class 20 design was introduced in 1957, so it’s a diamond celebration of this popular locomotive type.

The tour will traverse much of the Tonbridge to Hastings line as well as the Ashford via Maidstone East to Swanley route, not to mention visits to both the British Gypsum terminal at Mountfield and the Dungeness freight branchline, some loops are added.

After the last pick-up at Clapham Junction the proposed route is:

Factory Jn - Nunhead - Lewisham - Chislehurst - Swanley - Bat & Ball - Sevenoaks - Tonbridge - Tunbridge Wells - Robertsbridge - Mountfield Sidings (reverse) - Mountfield British Gypsum (reverse) - Mountfield Sidings (reverse) - Tonbridge (reverse) - Cranmore Down Loop - Ashford International - Appledore - Dungeness (reverse) - Ashford International - Beechbrook Farm Loop - Lenham Up Passenger Loop - Otford Up Goods Loop - Swanley - Shortlands - Bellingham - Nunhead - Factory Jn - Pouparts Jn - Clapham Jn - Streatham South Jn - Haydons Road - Wimbledon - Woking and as outward.

We acknowledge the willing co-operation of the Harry Needle Railroad Company, British Gypsum and GBRf in supporting the running of this special train.

MOTIVE POWER IS EXPECTED TO BE A PAIR OF CLASS 20 LOCOMOTIVES THROUGHOUT, TOP 'N' TAILED WITH GBRf CLASS 73S BETWEEN MOUNTFIELD AND DUNGENESS.
