Pathfinders Fundraising for the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway

Pathfinder Tours presented £2,500 to Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWR) at Winchcombe Station on Thursday, 7^th July. This sum, which included two generous personal contributions, had been raised through raffles held on train excursions run by ourselves between February and June this year.  This all started as a result of a suggestion from some of ‘The Growler Group’, who are based with the GWR, that passengers on the Pathfinder trains might like to contribute to the GWR Emergency Appeal; this funding is urgently required by GWR to repair damage to their track caused by a serious landslide earlier this year.

Alan Bielby, Fund Raising Coordinator and Project Director for GWR, said “While we have made significant progress towards our target of £1m to repair the embankments at Gotherington (now complete) and more recently at Chicken Curve, we still have a long way to go and the amazing £2500 that Pathfinder’s customers have so generously given will take us a step closer to that goal.”
