WHETHER YOU’RE AFTER AN EXCITING DAY OUT TO THE COAST OR AN ENTHUSIAST,

THIS ENTICING RAILTOUR TO THE EXMOOR COAST HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!

In the height of Summer, we head for the famed West Somerset Railway, the longest preserved standard gauge heritage railway in the UK.

Commencing at Reading, hauled by a pair of West Coast Railways class 33 ‘Crompton’ diesel locomotives, we head south to Eastleigh. We then pick-up at Stations through Hampshire and Wiltshire to Westbury. We continue our circuitous journey through Bristol for our final pick up, then it’s across the Somerset levels to Taunton, where just beyond at Norton Fitzwarren we head onto the West Somerset Railway at Bishops Lydeard.

Here, we exchange our West Coast Railways Class 33’s for a pair of West Somerset Railway Class 33’s, offering you the chance to travel behind four members of the class in a single day!

A further 20 miles is then enjoyed through unrivalled Somerset scenery, passing through quaint Country stations and along the cliff edge overlooking the Bristol channel to Dunster, where passengers may wish to visit the nearby medieval village and Dunster Castle (fare payable locally), or travel through to Minehead, where the station is ideally situated on the promenade.

Minehead, renowned for the Butlins resort, boasts a seafront station offering a short stroll to the Harbour, many local cafes and scenic walks.

Late-Afternoon, we retrace our steps, once again sampling the West Somerset cromptons back to Bishops Lydeard where we exchange back to our West Coast Railway cromptons for the journey back to our set-down stations, culminating a delightful day at the coast.
