Event Details

SATURDAY

The Cornish celebration of Midsummer, known locally as Golowan, dates back to 1754, but was only re-established in 1991. We head off to enjoy the festivities on an absorbing journey close to the longest day of the year; with the whole trip in daylight almost from start to finish.  Fast running west of Bristol, through the counties of Somerset and Devon, takes us to Plymouth and the crossing of the Tamar into Cornwall. Your destination choices are:-

Option A: Truro (1225/1645)

Option B: St Erth (1250/1615) for the branchline to St Ives (you can pay the fare locally on the day)

Option C: Penzance (1305/1605) for the Mazey Day celebrations and festivities, or perhaps take a local bus to visit nearby Marazion for St Michael’s Mount, Mousehole, Newlyn or Land’s End

‘Table for Two’ seats are available at a supplement of £35 per person in First Class, First Class Plus and Premier Dining.
