BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY

Our route is via Nottingham and Sleaford, giving a varied journey across the expanse of Lincolnshire and offering the chance to enjoy either:

Option A: Boston (1240 – 1620) set in the heart of Lincolnshire’s dramatic Fenland, is immersed in history. The Market Place houses the Guildhall Museum and hosts the Saturday market. There is also the Bubble Car Museum, St Botolph’s Church (known as The Stump), and many places to shop, eat or drink; or

Option B: Alight at Wainfleet (1320 – 1545) for a visit to the fame Bateman’s Brewer; or

Option C: Skegness (1330 – 1535) home of the original Butlins holiday camp and a bracing traditional seaside resort with its gardens, promenade, Blue Flag sandy beach and pier; it also has an Aquarium and Seal Sanctuary. Don’t forget the fish and chips!

Why the Jolly Fisherman? A poster was commissioned by the Great Northern Railway to encourage visitors to take a seaside break to Skegness. John Hassall drew the original Jolly Fisherman Poster in 1908. The slogan “Skegness is so bracing” formed part of the poster and is as famous as Jolly himself.

‘Table for Two’ seats are available at a supplement of £35 per person in First Class, First Class Plus and Premier Dining.
